Security and Privacy

In the artticle i read, http://news.cnet.com/8301-1009_3-57618283-83/target-works-on-security-heavy-credit-cards-after-breach/ it talks about a massive security branch that Target is still reeling from. The company was hacked and affected as many as 110 million customers. Their information such as names, mailing addresses, debit and credit cards, etc, were able to be seen by the hackers. The article also states that the credit cards have tiny microprocessor chips which helps to strengthen the security to make it difficult for the hackers to access your account. From reading this, the security of credit cards with the microprocessors will keep developing and making it difficult to hack into. The UK and Canada already have a more secure technology called chip-enabled smartcards which isn't spread through out the entire US, but from seeing security increase i think that also hackers will improve and have other methods to hack into personal information. I have read and seen videos that in the near future that we will be seeing microchips being implanted into people hands where the credit cards won't be needed and all of your information will be in that microchip. The microchip will have a tracker and will be able to identify which disease you have or will have. But this is rumors and I myself don't know when will it happen or will it. To learn something as the microchip it scares me how technology is increasing and how it may affect us, either it will be good or bad.

  1. What happened with target was just crazy. I know a couple of people who were affected by this. Its crazy to think people are capable of pulling things of like that.
